Five steps to payout

There are five steps between your first call and the settlement. You handle only the first one yourself.

  1. 1 Choose your expert. For accidents that were not your fault, you decide who inspects the damage. A suggestion from a repair shop or an insurer is only a suggestion, not a requirement.
  2. 2 Inspection appointment. The on-site inspection takes 30 to 45 minutes for typical damage. We usually set the appointment in Neumarkt within 24 hours.
  3. 3 Complete the report. The report is usually ready one day after the inspection. If it takes longer, we tell you in advance.
  4. 4 Delivery to everyone involved. We send the report to everyone involved. For technical questions, we remain your contact.
  5. 5 Repair method or payout. Two options follow. We explain the technical settlement options, and the decision stays with you.
For accidents that were not your fault, the other party's insurer pays directly You pay nothing in advance. We settle directly with the other party's insurer, and you receive no invoice from us. It is different in these cases: damage under your own comprehensive coverage (Teilkasko) or collision and comprehensive coverage (Vollkasko), an accident you caused yourself, and valuation reports (Wertgutachten). In these cases we agree on the price with you first. Then we send the invoice directly to you.

Six checkpoints

Six steps define the scope of the inspection

Six steps define how far the check goes. We do not check what the damage does not show. Neumarkt has the longest drive in our area, so the findings must be complete at the inspection appointment. The person who determines the damage does not do the repair. This separation keeps our findings neutral, because we have no interest in the repair order.

  • Plausibility of how the accident happened. The height of impact, contact marks and direction of deformation must match the described accident. On the highway we also check whether skid marks and the final positions of the vehicles match the sequence.
  • Separate prior damage from old damage. We keep two categories apart: prior damage (Vorschaden), which was already repaired, and old damage (Altschaden), which was never repaired. Both stay clearly separate from the current event. More on the page HIS entry (HIS-Eintrag).
  • Structure and underbody.Even a small sheet metal damage can reach the side member or the axle mount. If we suspect this, there are two options. A specialist repair shop measures the vehicle on site, or we put it on the vehicle lift in our workshop in Frauenaurach.
  • Paint thickness measurement.Earlier work on a spot shows up as differences from the factory paint thickness.
  • Driver assistance systems and calibration.Radar, camera and sensors sit exactly where the impact happens. After rear-end collisions in highway traffic, this is a common topic.
  • Calculation by manufacturer specifications. The manufacturer's system provides the labor time units (Arbeitswerte), paint levels and parts prices, not a guess.
Two real cases

Small damage with a high total

Here are two real cases. Each damage item is listed separately, in exactly the amount shown in the report.

Loss-of-use compensation In the case above, the loss-of-use compensation is €1,106. For the time without your own vehicle, loss-of-use compensation or a rental car may be an option. The report records the exact downtime.

Typical for Neumarkt

What sets Neumarkt apart from the other places in our service area is its location directly on the A3 between Nuremberg and Regensburg

A noticeable share of the damage we inspect here does not happen in the city itself. It happens on the highway or at the two interchanges. Examples are rear-end collisions in dense commuter traffic, lane-change damage when merging, and damage from stones thrown up on the road. There is also heavy truck traffic from the commercial areas along the highway. So vans and smaller trucks make up a higher share of the vehicles we inspect. In the historic old town, the damage is the usual parking damage in tight spaces, as in many other district towns.

A quick way

A first look on WhatsApp

Send us photos of the damage and of the license plate on WhatsApp. This also works if, after a parking bump or a small scrape, you are not sure whether a report is worthwhile. Then we tell you how the case looks to us and what your next step is.

The assessment does not obligate you to anything, even if no report follows in the end.

Two ways to calculate the amount of damage

For small, clear damage, such as a parking bump on Obere Marktstraße, a repair estimate is usually enough. Courts set this limit differently, usually between €750 and €1,000 of damage. More important than the sum is whether the damage is clearly simple.

Repair estimate

Fits small damage
  • Parts prices and the list of needed parts
  • Labor time units and labor costs of the repair shop that does the work
  • Rough estimate of the repair costs
  • Photos are often incomplete or missing
  • No diminished valueNo statement on the downtime

Vehicle report

For medium and larger damage
  • Photo documentation with photos, measured values and calculationThe condition stays traceable for months
  • Market-based Diminished valueGiven as a clear amount
  • Replacement value and residual valueWithout both figures, the basis for a Total loss is missing
  • Downtime as the basis for loss-of-use compensation or a rental car
  • Clear separation of prior damage from the current event
Clarified in advance

Questions we often hear first

Costs

Who usually pays for a damage report in Neumarkt?

If the other driver caused the accident, their liability insurance usually pays the full costs. This applies no matter how far Neumarkt is from our office. For very small damage, a report is often not worthwhile. We discuss exactly this with you by phone beforehand.

When can I expect the insurer to pay?

Usually four to six weeks pass until the insurer has reviewed the claim and paid. If the claim settlement (Regulierung) takes much longer or the insurer makes a reduction, this is a legal question. Please bring it to a lawyer.

Process

Is the drive to Neumarkt worthwhile despite the distance from your office?

It is 55 kilometers and about 39 minutes from our office via the A3. This makes Neumarkt the farthest point in our whole area. For medium or larger damage, this drive is usually worthwhile. For very small damage, we talk about it by phone first.

How fast can I get an inspection appointment?

We usually set the appointment in Neumarkt within 24 hours. On site, the inspection of typical damage takes 30 to 45 minutes. The finished report is usually ready one day later.

Is there a deadline for the inspection?

There is no fixed deadline. What matters is that the inspection happens before the repair starts.

May the repair start before the report?

We advise against it. Important: Without an inspection before the repair, you usually lack proof of the damage later. So call us before the repair starts, and we set a binding appointment.

What should I bring to the inspection appointment?

To start, the vehicle registration certificate (Fahrzeugschein) and your contact details are enough. If you already have a case number from the police or your insurer, bring it too. If the accident scene is directly on the A3, call us first. We agree on the meeting point with you.

Your rights

What role does the Neumarkt registration office play for my report?

No direct role. The report goes only to the insurer and the repair shop. It is not submitted to the registration office. You only go to the registration office on Nürnberger Straße if you want to deregister a vehicle after a total loss or register a replacement vehicle.

Do I have to hire the insurer's expert?

For accidents that were not your fault, you choose the vehicle expert yourself. The repair shop and the other party's insurer often suggest someone. This is only a suggestion, not a requirement.

Report

Do you also travel to an accident directly on the A3?

Yes. This includes rear-end collisions and damage at the two interchanges Neumarkt and Neumarkt-Ost. If the accident scene is on the highway itself, call us first. We agree on the meeting point by phone.

Do you also inspect company vehicles from the commercial areas near the A3?

Yes. Vans and smaller commercial vehicles from the commercial areas near the interchanges are among the vehicles we inspect regularly in Neumarkt.
