From the first call to claim settlement

Four steps. You take the first one. We take care of the rest.

1

Get in touch

Call us or message us on WhatsApp. Usually we agree on when we come to Nuremberg in the same conversation, and often it is the same day.

2

On-site inspection

We inspect the vehicle where it suits you. For a typical case, the damage inspection takes 30 to 45 minutes.

3

Report and delivery

The report is ready one day after the on-site appointment. It goes directly to the recipients you name. You can ask us any follow-up questions personally.

4

Claim settlement

The other party's insurer pays based on the figures in the report. Afterward, you decide whether to have the car repaired or to choose a fictitious settlement (fiktive Abrechnung). In that case, you have the calculated amount paid out and do not repair the car.

Inspection depth

Six steps define the scope of the inspection

Every damage case goes through the same six steps. The report contains exactly what the damage shows, and each point is documented separately.

  • Cause of damage and plausibilityDo the impact height, contact marks and direction of deformation match the accident as described? We note contradictions instead of ignoring them.
  • Separate prior damage (Vorschaden) from old damage (Altschaden)Prior damage that was already repaired and old damage that was never repaired must be kept apart. They must also be clearly separated from the current event. Otherwise this already gives the insurer a reason for a later reduction (Kürzung). The insurers' notice and information system is a database in which insurers record damage cases. You can read which of this information may be recorded there under HIS entry (HIS-Eintrag).
  • Structure and axle geometrySheet metal damage that looks small from the outside can sometimes reach the longitudinal member, the load-bearing beams of the vehicle floor. It can also reach the axle mount, where the suspension is bolted on. We can spot signs of this during the inspection. A specialist repair shop then does the exact measurement, and the result goes into the report.
  • Paint thickness measurementWhen we measure the paint layer, differences from the factory value show earlier work on that spot. This separates fresh damage from an old repair.
  • Driver assistance systems and calibrationRadar, camera and sensors sit exactly where cars are hit. The calibration work that is actually needed belongs in the repair cost calculation, even if no photo shows it.
  • Calculation based on manufacturer specificationsLabor time units (Arbeitswerte) are the time the manufacturer sets for each repair step. They come from the manufacturer's system, together with paint levels and parts prices. They are not guesses. A clear calculation leaves no basis for a general reduction.
From our reports

Small damage, large amount

Here are three more real cases. Each report states the amount this way and lists every damage item separately.

Loss-of-use compensation For the time without a vehicle, loss-of-use compensation or a rental car may apply. The report records the downtime. In the cases above, the amount is between €602 and €1,106.

We come to you anywhere in Nuremberg

The list goes by building density, from the most crowded 19th-century neighborhoods to former villages at the edge of the city. They are now part of Nuremberg. We come to wherever the vehicle is. South of the city limits, we also work in Schwabach .

Nuremberg in numbers

Almost one in four accidents is a hit-and-run

In 2024, the police counted 12,918 traffic accidents in the city area. That is 2.81% fewer than the year before. 2,433 people were injured, 236 of them seriously. The police estimated the property damage at €22,842,000.

3,018 cases: hit-and-run in Nuremberg

3,018 of the 12,918 accidents were hit-and-run cases, almost a quarter. 36.81% of these were solved. For the inspection, this means that the traces must be documented quickly.

On the first day: what can still be read

Important: Do not wash the vehicle. Do not have it towed unless necessary, and do not leave it outside for a long time. Paint transferred from the other vehicle, the height of the impact point and the direction of contact are fully readable right after the event. After washing, after towing and after two weeks outside, some of this is lost.

248,626 cars: registered vehicles

At the end of 2024, exactly 248,626 passenger cars and station wagons were registered in Nuremberg. That is the largest number in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. It is also the reason for the dense traffic on inner-city streets.

Sources: The traffic accident figures come from the 2024 road traffic and accident statistics for the city of Nuremberg from the Middle Franconia police headquarters (Polizeipräsidium Mittelfranken). The vehicle numbers and the population and area figures for the districts come from the district data sheets of the Office for Urban Research and Statistics for Nuremberg and Fürth. The data is from December 31, 2024. The length of the tram network comes from the Nuremberg transport company VAG (Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft).

Typical for Nuremberg

Two damage patterns that are typical for Nuremberg

Erlangen and Bamberg have no tram, but Nuremberg does. That is the first special feature. The second is the parking pressure in the dense neighborhoods.

  • Grooved rails in mixed trafficSeven tram lines run on a 38.4-kilometer network. Of this, 21.13 kilometers run on the street together with road traffic. That is about 55% of the network, in the middle of car traffic. Affected streets include Steinbühler Straße toward Plärrer, Bucher Straße and Nordring, Erlanger Straße, Pillenreuther Straße, Allersberger Straße and Wodanstraße.
  • Tight parking, many small damage casesIn the 19th-century neighborhoods south of the Altstadt, cars are parked right next to each other. The damage is therefore low on the car and on its sides: side scrape marks, deformed bumper covers and torn-off mirror caps.
The quick way

Free initial assessment on WhatsApp

Are you not sure whether a report is worth it after a minor bump while parked (Parkrempler)? Send us photos of the damage and of the license plate. We tell you how we assess the case and what comes next.

The assessment does not obligate you to anything, even if we advise against a report.

Repair estimate and report, two different documents

For small, clear-cut damage, a repair estimate is usually enough. Courts see the exact limit differently, mostly somewhere between €750 and €1,000. In the end, the amount matters less than whether the damage is clearly simple.

Repair estimate

Fits small damage
  • Parts pricesList of the parts needed, with costs
  • Labor time units and labor costsHourly labor rates (Stundenverrechnungssätze) of the repair shop
  • Repair costsEstimate of the total repair amount

Vehicle report

For medium and larger damage
  • Complete photo documentationThe condition can still be checked months later
  • Diminished valueThe loss in value that remains after the repair
  • Replacement value and residual valueWithout both values, half of the basis is missing in a total loss (Totalschaden)
  • DowntimeBasis for loss-of-use compensation or a rental car
  • Separating earlier damageSeparates today's damage from everything that came before
Where the Nuremberg damage lies The police estimated the property damage from the 12,918 accidents in 2024 at €22,842,000. That is on average about €1,770 per accident, spread across the vehicles involved. The average Nuremberg accident is therefore already above the range in which a repair estimate still holds up. Once body panels are replaced, the estimate lacks the items that matter later.
Frequently asked questions

What customers want to know beforehand

30 to 45 minutes: Duration of the on-site inspection for a typical damage case. 5.0: Average rating on Google, based on more than 60 reviews.

Costs

What does a damage report in Nuremberg usually cost?

If the other party caused the accident, their liability insurance usually pays the costs in full. For very minor damage, a report is often not worth it. We clarify this beforehand by phone.

From what amount of damage is a report worth it compared with a repair estimate?

Below about €750, it is called minor damage (Bagatellschaden). A repair estimate is usually enough there. Between €750 and €1,500, it depends on the case. Above that, a report is the normal choice. If you suspect hidden damage, a total loss or prior damage, a report is worth it whatever the amount.

Process

Do you also come to Nuremberg's city center?

Yes, we come to wherever your vehicle is, including the Altstadt, Gostenhof or the edge of the city.

How quickly can I get an inspection appointment?

In Nuremberg, it often works on the same day, otherwise on the next working day. On site, the inspection takes about 30 to 45 minutes for a normal damage case. The finished report usually follows one day later.

By when must the inspection take place?

There is no fixed deadline. Have the vehicle inspected before the repair begins. In Nuremberg, almost one in four recorded accidents ends as a hit-and-run, 23.4% in 2024. So the earlier we document the traces, the more we can see.

Do you come to the vehicle, or do I have to bring it to you?

We come to wherever your vehicle is: at home, at work, at the repair shop or at the towing service. Only if we suspect hidden damage on the underbody do we ask you to come to our workshop (our own inspection hall) in Erlangen-Frauenaurach. We agree on this with you beforehand.

Your rights

Can I choose my own expert?

Yes, for accidents that were not your fault. Repair shops and the other party's insurer often suggest someone. These are suggestions, not requirements. For a claim under your own vehicle insurance (Kaskoschaden), your own insurer hires the expert instead.

What happens if my car already had prior damage?

Tell us about it, even if it was a long time ago. Repaired prior damage and unrepaired old damage are two different things. In the report, we clearly separate both from the current event. Without this separation, you give the insurer a reason to reduce the payment.

Report

What about diminished value and loss-of-use compensation?

Both are separate items, and both are often overlooked. Diminished value compensates for the fact that your vehicle remains an accident vehicle, even after a proper repair. You may be entitled to loss-of-use compensation for the days without a vehicle, even without a rental car. We show both separately in the report.

When do I get the money from the insurer?

Review and payment usually take four to six weeks. If the claim settlement (Regulierung) takes much longer, or if the insurer reduces the payment, that is a legal question for your lawyer. For the technical side of the report, we are happy to answer your questions by phone.

What does the vehicle registration office have to do with my report?

Nothing directly. You do not submit the report there. It goes only to the insurer and the repair shop. You only need to go to the registration office (Zulassungsstelle) in two cases. One is if you actually deregister a vehicle after a total loss. The other is if you want to register a replacement vehicle. You decide whether and when that happens, not the report.
