Step by step

Four steps from your call to your payout

You take the first step. We handle the other three for you.

1

The first call.

By phone or WhatsApp, you briefly describe the damage. Often we already agree during this first call when we will come to Forchheim.

2

Then the inspection.

For the inspection, we come to where your vehicle is right now. For ordinary damage, the on-site inspection takes 30 to 45 minutes.

3

Then the report and delivery.

Usually one day after the on-site appointment, the report is ready. We send it directly to the people you name.

4

Finally, the claim settlement.

The other party's insurer pays based on the figures in the report. You decide whether to repair the car or to choose fictitious settlement (fiktive Abrechnung). In that case, you have the calculated amount paid out without a repair.

For accidents that were not your fault, the other party's insurer pays directly You do not pay anything in advance. The other party's liability insurance usually pays the costs of the report. It is different in three cases. First, the claim goes through your own comprehensive coverage (Teilkasko) or collision and comprehensive coverage (Vollkasko). Second, you caused the accident yourself. Third, the report is a valuation report (Wertgutachten). We tell you the price in advance and then bill you directly.

Our inspection process

Six steps on the way to the report

It can be a wildlife accident on the way to the Fränkische Schweiz or parking damage during the Annafest, a large summer festival. The inspection process stays the same. We follow these six steps in every case. They define how closely we look. The report states what the damage shows.

  • First, plausibility. We compare the impact height, the contact marks and the direction of deformation with the accident as you describe it. We record contradictions instead of ignoring them.
  • Next, separating prior damage.Damage that was already repaired (Vorschaden) must be clearly separated from the current event. The same applies to old damage that was never repaired (Altschaden). Such a case may lead to an HIS entry (HIS-Eintrag). HIS is the information system of the insurers (Hinweis- und Informationssystem), a database for recorded damage cases. The page HIS entryexplains the details.
  • Then structure and underbody.Next we look at the frame rails and the axle mounts, because minor body damage can go deeper. If we suspect this, your car goes on the vehicle lift at our location in Frauenaurach. Or a specialist repair shop measures the car on site.
  • Then the paint thickness measurement. If the paint thickness differs from the normal factory thickness, this shows earlier work at exactly this spot. It separates the fresh damage from an earlier repair.
  • Fifth, driver assistance systems and calibration.Radar, camera and sensors are often right where the impact happened. We include the calibration work that is really needed in the calculation, even if no photo shows it.
  • Last, the calculation based on manufacturer specifications.Labor time units (Arbeitswerte), paint levels and parts prices come from the manufacturer system, not from a guess. A flat reduction (Kürzung) then has no basis. Describe your case by phone, and we tell you which service fits.
Examples from practice

Small damage with a high total

Two real cases show how the report states each damage item separately.

Loss-of-use compensation While the vehicle is out of use, loss-of-use compensation or a rental car may be possible. The report states how long the downtime lasts. In the two cases shown above, the amount is between €490 and €602.

We come to you anywhere in Forchheim

Forchheim consists of the core city area and the districts that are now part of the city: Buckenhofen, Burk, Kersbach, Reuth, Serlbach and Sigritzau. We come to where the vehicle is, also to the area toward the Fränkische Schweiz.

Typical for Forchheim

Two traffic flows shape the damage we see in Forchheim

The first is commuter traffic on the A73 and the B470 between Erlangen, Bamberg and Nuremberg. Here we see the usual rear-end and lane-change damage in dense rush-hour traffic. The second is leisure traffic into the Fränkische Schweiz. On weekends and in the summer months, the narrow country roads toward Ebermannstadt and Gößweinstein are busier than usual. Drivers who do not know the area face tight curves, wildlife crossings and cyclists. There is also the Annafest in summer. About 450,000 to 500,000 visitors come to the town over eleven days. Parking around the Kellerwald becomes much more difficult. During this time, small parking damage and minor bumps while parked become more frequent.

When a repair estimate is enough

For small, clear damage, such as a parking bump at the Streckerplatz, a repair estimate is usually enough. Courts see the exact limit differently, usually somewhere between €750 and €1,000 in damage. What matters is whether the damage is easy to see and easy to assess.

Repair estimate

Fits small damage
  • Parts prices and a list of the needed parts with costs
  • Labor time units and labor costs of the repair shop
  • Rough estimate of the repair costs
  • Photos are usually limitedSometimes they are missing completely
  • Without diminished value and without downtime

Vehicle report

For medium and larger damage
  • Photo documentationCan still be checked months later
  • Market-based Diminished value given as a clear amount
  • Replacement value and residual value as the basis for a Total loss
  • Clear separation of earlier damage from the current event
Questions and answers

What customers want to know in advance

Costs

Who usually pays the costs of a damage report in Forchheim?

For accidents that were not your fault, we bill the other party's insurer directly. You do not get an invoice from us. It is different for very small damage. A report often does not pay off there, and we discuss this by phone in advance.

How long does the insurer take to pay?

Review and payment usually take four to six weeks. If the claim settlement (Regulierung) takes much longer or the insurer reduces the payment, a lawyer should handle it. We answer every question about the technical side of the report by phone.

Process

Do you also come to the Forchheim old town, Kersbach or Reuth?

Yes, we drive to where your vehicle is, whether in the old town, in the districts that are now part of the city or in the area toward the Fränkische Schweiz.

How quickly can I get an inspection appointment?

Because of the short drive on the A73, it usually works on the same day in Forchheim. For ordinary damage, the on-site inspection takes about 30 to 45 minutes. The finished report is usually ready one day later.

Is there a deadline for the inspection?

There is no fixed deadline. Call us before the repair starts. The earlier we inspect the vehicle, the more fully we can document the evidence of the damage.

Can I have the car repaired before the report?

Important: Have the vehicle repaired only after the inspection. After a repair, the real extent of the damage can no longer be proven. This also applies after a wildlife accident on the road to the Fränkische Schweiz or after parking damage during the Annafest days. Contact us before the repair starts. Because of the short drive on the A73, we can usually offer an appointment on the same day.

Your rights

Do I have to hire the insurer's expert?

For accidents that were not your fault, you choose who inspects the damage. This is true even if the repair shop or the other party's insurer suggests someone. It applies in the Forchheim old town and in the area toward the Fränkische Schweiz, because a suggestion is not a requirement.

Report

What role does the Forchheim registration office play for my report?

None directly. You do not submit the report to the registration office. It goes only to the insurer and the repair shop. You go to the registration office at the Streckerplatz only after a total loss, to deregister a vehicle or to register a replacement vehicle.

Do you also work in the area toward the Fränkische Schweiz?

Yes, Ebermannstadt, Pegnitz and the surrounding towns are part of our service area. It does not matter if the vehicle has the FO plate code or a district code such as EBS or PEG.

Why does parking damage increase during the Annafest?

During the eleven days of the Annafest, parking around the Kellerwald becomes much more difficult. This is why minor bumps while parked increase. We document this damage with the same level of detail as any other damage.

Which documents do you need from me for the appointment?

Your vehicle registration certificate (Fahrzeugschein), your contact details and, if you have one, the file number from the insurer or the police. We clarify the rest on site.
